Wedding, Open Bar and Red Sox No No, What A Night

Clay BuchholzLast night was my cousins wedding and I figured that I would DVR the Red Sox game because I didn’t want to miss it since rookie Clay Buchholz was pitching. It was hit second Major League start and he won his previous one so I wanted to make sure I saw it. However, the plan changed once the 6th inning ended and the no hitter was still intact. I went upstairs to the men’s lounge where they had a TV and a bar. I watched the rest of the game along with a huge group of people from the wedding.

In the 7th, with the no hitter on the line, Tejada hit a ball up the middle over Buchholz’s head. I thought that was going to be the end of the streak until Pedroia made the play of the night and possibly the second half of the season. He dove, grabbed the ball and threw it to first for the out. Words can’t explain how good of a play it was, you need to see it.

The Red Sox went on to win 10-0 against the Orioles. The only mistakes that Buchholz made were 3 walks and a hit a player.

“The night belonged to Buchholz. When he rang up the final out, a delayed punchout that sent the crowd and the home dugout into a frenzy, the Red Sox spilled onto the field, forming a bounding huddle around the rookie pitcher.” – source.

  • Buchholz was the first Red Sox rookie to pitch a no hitter in the teams history.
  • Buchholz was third pitcher in Major League history to pitch a no hitter as a rookie in their first or second start

Below is the full video of the top of the 9th to end the game and to close out the No No. Enjoy!!
