Patriots “Jet” Through Season Opener (Record 1-0)

Patriots LogoPatriots started the 2007 season by beating the New York Jets 38-14. Randy Moss was amazing along with Tom Brady, Laurence Maroney and Ellis Hobbs. Moss was better than expected actually, he had nine completions for 183 yards and a touchdown. Brady finished 22 of 28 for 297 yards and three touchdowns along with a 146.6 passer rating. Maroney carried the ball 20 times for 72 yards, but he looked very strong and I expect good things from the feature back now that Dillon is gone.

After halftime, that’s when the Pats received a ball that turned into a historic moment. Ellis Hobbs returned the kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown. It is the longest kickoff return in NFL history. There were many of 106 yards but until today, no one has hit 108 yards. The patriots went on to score two more touchdowns and a field goal. It was a great way to start the season and keep up the expectations of the team winning the super bowl which many analysts have predicted.
