Beckett And Red Sox Shutout Angels In Game 1

Josh Beckett Wins Game 1

Game 1 is in the books and the Red Sox walk away with the shutout win over the Angels. Josh Beckett not only got the win, but he got the complete game as well. Giving up only 4 hits and obviously 0 runs over his CG, Beckett was amazing. He gave up a single to the first batter of the game and then retired 19 straight batters after that. Beckett struggled a little in the 8th giving up two hits, but he got out the of the inning. In his career Beckett has had 4 regular season complete games and now 3 playoff complete games. That says a lot about Beckett as a big game pitcher.

The Red Sox didn’t need a lot of offense tonight due to the amazing pitching, but they added some insurance runs anyway. It started out with Youk hitting a solo HR and then Papi hit a 2 run shot in the 3rd. They tacked on one more from Lowell driving in Manny.

Friday night at 8:30 is game 2 of the series.
