4 Reasons To Enjoy A Total Lunar Eclipse In 2008

Who doesn’t love to see something that only happens once every few years. Tonight there was a total eclipse (of my heart….just kidding) of the moon which in turn makes it a total lunar eclipse. I could have put that first, but then it would have defeated the joke. The next total lunar eclipse will occur on December 21, 2010, so it will be a while before we see another one.

As you can see, it is not the best picture, but I was testing out all the hidden features on my camera. Above the moon (orange thing) is Regulus, which is the brightest star in the constellation of Leo.

Here are my top 4 reasons to enjoy a total lunar eclipse in 2008. Note: I was watching it just outside Boston, MA.

  1. It was ridiculously cold out…well not really, but colder than I wanted it to be. I couldn’t stay out that long because my hands were getting cold
  2. Not only could you see the Total Lunar Eclipse, but you could also see Regulus and the Planet Saturn was very visible.
  3. There was some kind of blue object in the sky that was moving fast, but it wasn’t a plane.
  4. What else would you be doing for three hours

I never said they would be good reasons, just reasons.
