2008 Boston Red Sox Home Opener; Wins, Rings And F-16’s

The Red Sox win the home opener 5-0 against the Detroit Tigers dropping them to 0-7 for the season. Today they also unveiled the new 2007 World Champions banner and brought in a lot of surprises. During the Ring Ceremony, they had past Boston sports heroes to present the rings to the Red Sox management. These included but not all of them, Celtics: Bill Russell – Bruins, Johnny Bucyk and Bobby Orr – Patriots: Teddy Bruschi.

To make the day better, they brought in former hated Red Sox First Baseman Billy Buckner to throw out the first pitch. It was a very emotional day for him knowing that he wasn’t hated in Boston anymore, which brought him to tears after everyone cheered. After the National Anthem was played, 4 F-16’s from Vermont flew overhead (which is ironic – figure it out…really lame).

I have tickets to Thursday’s game, but I sold them to one of my co-workers.
