Randomness While At Red Sox Games In Fenway Park

I have attended quite a few Red Sox games this year, but it always seems that interesting things happen while I am there. It has taken me almost two months to write this, but at least I got around to doing it.

One of the games that I was at, was the same day as game 6 of the Bruins vs. Canadians. My seats were in the right field grandstands and they had TV’s hanging down for people who had poles in front of them, they could see the replay if they missed it, or since they couldn’t see the Jumbotron. However, my friend Vasken and I started watching the TV while the Sox were warming up and found that they had the Bruins game on and we were so excited. Right as they were about to drop the puck, they changed the channel to the Red Sox game. We were upset, but we figured they would at least have the game on NESN so that they would update us on the score of the Bruins game. Instead they had it on FSN (most likely for contractual obligations), but we couldn’t find out the score. So instead of telling us the score, the techies inside of us pulled out our Blackberry’s and went to the website and auto refreshed the score.

Everything was going great and Vasken and I were updating the entire section of the Bruins game during down time. I was holding my Blackberry in my left hand and my beer in my right hand. See if you can put two + two together. That’s right, as Manny hit his go ahead HR in the bottom of the 8th inning, I stood up and my Blackberry slipped out of my hand and into my beer. I pulled out the phone and took out the battery immediately, however the damage had already been done. Luckily I had insurance on my phone (which I only had for about two months) and I was able to get a new Blackberry for only $50 instead of $400.

In the same game, the lady in front of me told me that I talk like Jack Black. I wasn’t sure how to take that, so I said thank you and continued watching the game. Random, I know, but it was an interesting night. Another situation at the same game, was a girl directly behind me that stood up and dislocated her knee. She was in horrible pain and had to have the medical staff take her out of the game to get it checked out.

Finally, the week before during the Red Sox vs. Yankees game, I broke my camera. Since I blog I like taking my camera to Fenway to have photos to display. However, I hadn’t been doing that because I still haven’t fixed my camera. I thought my camera was in my jacket which was next to me, but apparently it slipped down between the seat while I was standing up. When I sat down, all I heard was glass cracking.

Note: The Red Sox have won every game that I have gone to this year, but they are also 25-6 at home, so that might be why as well. Also the Bruins won that game in dramatic fashion, even though they lost in game 7.
