Dustin Pedroia Wins 2008 American League MVP

The 2008 AL MVP race was a very “close” race. People were wondering if K-Rod, A-Rod, Justin Morneau, Kevin Youkilis or Dustin Pedroia would win. It turns out that it wasn’t even close in the voting. Pedroia received 16 1st place votes, 6 2nd place, 4 3rd place and 1 4th place vote. He earned 317 points with his next competitor was at 257 points. It is the first time since 1995 since a Red Sox player won the MVP when Mo Vaughn won it. Also, 1959 was the last time a 2nd baseman won the MVP. With 213 hits, Pedroia tied Ichiro Suzuki for the Major League lead.

Pedroia led the majors with 54 doubles and led the AL in runs with 118 and multihit games with 61. Backed by a .326 average, Pedroia lost the batting title by just four points to Minnesota catcher Joe Mauer. Pedroia finished fourth in total bases with 322 and seventh in extra-base hits at 73. Dustin also chipped in with power (17 homers, 83 RBIs) and speed (20 stolen bases).

He deserves it even though everyone seems to think that A-Rod is actually better. Apparently he isn’t and this award proves it. Congratulations Dustin Pedroia!!

  1. Short term installment Loans

For the fifth time in American history, a second baseman has been awarded as the Most Valuable Player of the Major League Baseball. The honoree is Dustin Pedroia , a multi-talented player from Woodland, California, plying his trade for the Boston Red Sox. He ably does for the BoSox what short-term installment loans can do for your budget if youā??re in a temporary jam. He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2007 for the American League, and that season was certainly an indicator that Boston had a fireball on their roster. At 5ā??8ā?, and 180 lbs Pedroia turned in an impressive .326 batting average, 83 RBI, 54 doubles, and 52 strikeouts from 653 at bats. He was also 20 for 21 in stolen bases, and he barely missed the batting title, which went to Joe Mauer of the Minnesota Twins. Oh yeah, and heā??s a Golden Glove winner on defense, and the last second base player to receive that award was in 1959 (Nellie Fox, of the Chicago White Sox.) Like installment loansĀø heā??s there for the team when heā??s needed. The no hassle, no frills approach that he brings to the table makes for powerful service. Small loans when you are in a temporary budget crunch can jumpstart your financial bullpen in the same way. Click to read more on Short Term Installment Loans.
