Today In History: The Final Day Of The Battle Of Gettysburg

On the third day and final day of the battle, fighting resumed on Culp’s Hill, and cavalry raged to the east and south, but the main event was a dramatic infantry assault by 12,500 Confederates against the center of the Union line on Cemetery Ridge.

Today In History: President Abraham Lincoln Dies in 1865

President Abraham Lincoln was on his way to see “Our American Cousin” at Ford’s Theatre on April 14th, 1865 (the day before) when it was interrupted by the gun shot of John Wilkes Booth.
