2008 Olympic Games – Opening Ceremonies Tonight

In one of the most technically advanced opening ceremonies, Beijing proved that not only can they put together a 3 million dollar live show, but they can incorporate their 5,000 year history into it. All eight were Chinese Olympic champions including the final carrier who they hoisted up to the top of the stadium and he “ran” around a projection that went around in 360 degrees culminating in the lighting of the cauldron followed by fireworks.

Germany To Give 79.5 Million Euro To Help Armenia

It was noted that Germany intends to provide 79.5 million euros (more than 110 million USD) as financial assistance for Armenia. Being Armenia‚??s second (after the United States) donor state, Germany has assigned some 265 million euros for Armenia since 1993.

E-Passports began Monday Aug. 14

A contactless chip in the rear cover of the passport will contain the same data as that found on the biographic data page of the passport (name, date of birth, gender, place of birth, dates of passport issuance and expiration, passport number), and will also include a digital image of the bearer‚??s photograph.
